If you’re not yet obsessed over Mad Men well…you’re ought to be. Before the third season of this brilliant advertising themed saga premieres on Sunday, we decided to make educational guesses of the astrological identities of the series’ main characters.

Don Draper (Jon Hamm) | Has to be a Leo. The creative director of Sterling Cooper Advertising Agency is as gifted as he’s flawed. Draper is a natural leader who incidentally has a Leo Clinton-like infidelity complex. But as much as he screws up, he’s still irresistible to watch. Hamm’s Leo Moon certainly helps the cause of his character. |

Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) | Has to be a Taurus. Olson rose from a secretary to a copywriter with her own office. She’s quietly determined and mentally sharp. But as tough as she’s at work, this fictional Bull has a turbulent private life. She suffers a small breakdown and carries a love child, all while keeping her career goals intact. |

Peter “Pete” Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser) | Has to be a Taurus. Kartheiser is a Bull in real life so it must be easy for him to play the worst kind of Taurus man. Campbell is a whiny and an ambitious account executive from a privileged background and he’ll blackmail, lie, and steal to get ahead. Will he have any regrets about his everyday sins? Absolutely not. |
![]() |
Elizabeth “Betty” Draper (January Jones) | Has to be a Pisces. While her husband woos the world, Betty Draper vacantly faces her own void reality on the daily basis. This gorgeous former model is an emotional, intuitive idealist who internalizes her grief while still managing to pick the best dresses and hair styles on the lot. |
![]() |
Joan Holloway (Christina Hendricks) | Has to be a Scorpio. The show’s office manager knows everyone’s secrets and she intelligently uses that talent to her advantage. Holloway is sexual, mysterious, and alluring and she can stand up to any woman or a man in her way. |
![]() |
Roger Sterling (John Slattery) | Has to be a Sagittarius. One of the two senior partners of Sterling Cooper, Sterling rules by popularity. He’ll drink with co-workers to get information. He’s also an extreme womanizer who got two heart attacks thanks to his affairs, and this exec is always very curious about his surroundings. |

Don Draper is a Gemini, he looks just like one, is good with words and has a double life

i’ve always thought don draper to be a scorpio. doesn’t say much, and is very manipulative.

I think Don is a full blown Capricorn. He is authorative a characteristic which leos share, but capricorns are that way too. I would say he is a capricorn rather than a leo because he doesn’t succumb to flattery or bask in attention as leos do. While capricorns seem straight laced in their private lives they like to break all the rules, which is exactly what Don does. He always keeps his affairs private. A capricorn man can have an affairs for years, but will always come home to his wife, like Don(it was Betty who wanted the divorce, not him).
If anyone is a leo, its Pete. The way his temper flares if people don’t give him the respect he deserves says it all.

Sorry to burst your bubble….Draper is a Libra. He seems so balanced on the surface, calm and in control yet he is unbalanced from the inside and always trying to balance himself. He is charismatic, has a way with words, dresses well and is good with the ladies, all Libra men traits. The only thing that goes against him being a Libra is that he stays reserved and is not a people pleaser, I guess a Scorpio moon can explain that.

I thought Peggy would be a Capricorn, and Draper a Pisces. He’s flighty and indecisive, yet knows everyone well except himself. As for Peggy, hardworking, determined, career-oriented, and classy. I’m sorry to say I think that instinctual last trait (in my opinion) escapes the Taurus archetype. I agree with everything else. :)

It actually turns out that Peggy is an actual card carrying Gemini (her birthdate is tied into the Cassius Clay fight as her 26th. She was born May 25th, 1939).
