The dust has settled, every absentee paper ballot has been counted and on January 20th America will have a new president – Barack Obama (born August 4, 1961). And although this election has been deemed revolutionary on many levels the results aren’t earth-shattering by astrological standards. Why? Because for the last 16 years, US had a Leo in the White House. Bill Clinton was elected in 1992 and George W. Bush (who’s a Cancer with a totally Leo dominated chart) moved his belongings into Washington D.C. in 2000. And believe it or not, Bush and Obama aren’t that different as far as their planets are concerned. Here’s our breakdown of Obama’s chart.
The Good News:
- Leo Sun: He has the energy, confidence, and the vanity to solidly sustain his firm position on the throne. If he had any insecurities, they were eliminated with all those electoral votes.
- Mercury in Leo: Mercury in Leo: Like Bush and Clinton before him Obama has fantastic charmer communication skills. Give him a forum and he’ll take advantage. Our President elect adores being listened to, being quoted, and loves to relate to everyone on his journey.
- Ascendant in Aquarius: Many chiefs have that ascendant in their back pocket. Obama knows what needs to be done, he knows who he’s hurting or encouraging, and has great psychic powers.
The Bad News:
- Venus in Cancer: That usually signals addiction (Obama smokes away), lethal jealousy, and sensitive attachment to a mate. Wife Michelle is a Capricorn, which is opposite of Cancer which should bode well, but emotionally Obama is not all here yet.
- Lots of Twelfth House: Many have noted that both his Jupiter and Saturn that often guide career and destiny are in the twelfth house. Twelfth House is like oddball junk house that no one wants to visit and no one quite understands but it usually points to stuff like medicine, instability, depression, and in some cases lack of security (Secret Service needs to be on full alert at all times).
Split Decisions:
- Mars in Virgo: Bush was blessed (?) with this characteristic as well, which can be both positive and gloomy. This Mars gets tasks done but doesn’t really tend to focus particularly well. Too many folders on the desk with no resolution. And people with Virgo Mars are not aggressive and just plain annoying at times. They like to nag and get distracted easily.
- Moon in Gemini: Some say this Moon makes you an outstanding writer and a superb communicator. Which is true. The Gemini Moon also expresses emotions in an uneven doses and struggles to often make independent judgments.
